So I've only recently (as in the last two days) become aware of and interested in these fish. I've seen many videos of the longirostris, and they seem like really entertaining, intelligent fish. But I can't find much info on their behavior and compatibility (or lack thereof) with other large fish.

Has anyone here had experience with them? How well would they fare in a large tank with tankmates like arowana, clown knife, dat, peacock bass, giraffe cat, etc.?

Also what are the differences between the two species listed? I was only able to ascertain that the kannume get a little larger. I'm assuming in terms of feeding, temperament, etc., they're basically the same? And how difficult (or possible) is it to get them onto pellet food?

aggression wise seems like they would be fine... if the sizes where similar, assumeing it's going to be wild caught and a juvi yet... you may want to gorw it out abit... the only concern I would have otherwise is being from Africa is it's tolerancy for PH/KH/GH issues.. the fish you list as tank-mates are all generally softer water species... but nothing to sensitive... where ime mory's and similarly sensitive species often associated with knives can be quite water sensitive. I've seen these guys once or twice and they where kept very similarly to ghost knives, but looked in poor health ( makes me wonder if water perameters ARE that important). But my experiance with them has been very limited, and not very positive.

Thanks for the info. Definitely not a fish that many people are familiar with these days it seems. Anyone else?

not to hijack but... i was also wondering about these aswell and was wondering how big the grow and what size tank they need i have also found that longirsrtis is a different species from knnume and i have heard that they need things to keep them entertained is this true

I used to own a cornish jack, which I imagine would be similar in behavior to this fish. It instantly took prepared sinking foods and was rather territorial.
It was one of my favorite fish
