Mortar?!

I would say a month from what I read. Do a water change every 3 to 4 days and test them before you change them. Once you get a balanced pH reading, it should be safe to cycle the tank.

are there and special ways cuz i looked it up and everyone has different views?

any cement experts with experience!?

If it helps, I'm plastering the concrete on styrofoam, then when the concrete is cured, I'm painting it with an earth colored (they don't sell it, but they'll sell you dye to dye it) sanitred permaflex. BTW. I don't work for sanitred :D If you completely encapsulate the concrete in sanitred, you won't have the leaching. It's supposed to never break down submerged, so it should never leach. The dark brown is one color, and with the dye, you can make several variations of "dirt" colors.

my 2 cents...

ive looked at sanitred a lil expensive. when i make my tank i might use something like that then maybe i'll do somethin like that

the tank might take a while though!:screwy:

It's not expensive when you consider coverage. 1 gal covers 250 sq. ft. and I can attest to that. Depending on size, you may only need 1 quart. That's $42.95 and covers 125 square feet. So how big of a background do you want to cover? If you call them, they would probably sell you less than a quart. They're great people to work with. They'll answer any questions you may have too.
