Mosquito fish as cichlid feeders???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
..i dont see why not just gut load them (feed them allot of high quality food) about 10 mins before you feed them to your fish.

where does he have them..in a tank?...pond?

getting a bunch and QTing them for a few weeks..maybe around of internal/external parasite treat meant couldn't hurt as well just to be sure.

feeders are always touchy if you don't grow them your self..you don't want to give your fish anything ^_^

Good topic, As I plan to Stock some this spring To help with mosquitos in our village. In some places they are even sold as feeders. I did read somewhere that they are carriers of parasites. But it hasn't been "verified". I would use them as feeders, Only if (a) they are not wild caught. (b) If I had my own breeding colony. If you do decide to go this route. Be careful as they are notorious fry killers.

They are in a pond with his koi fish, I was thinking about putting then in a 10 gallon as a breeder because they apparently breed like crazy and making that my feeder source. My lfs sells them as feeders so I'm thinking about giving it a try.
