In case you didnt already know (because you live under a moss ball?), about a month ago an employee at a petco found a zebra mussel on a moss ball and since then there has been holy moss ball hysteria breaking out. Some states are even doing moss ball buy backs with a chance to win $1200 and telling people that they should dump out and boil any aquarium water that ever housed moss balls. https://www.wyomingnewsnow.tv/2021/04/13/game-and-fish-launches-moss-ball-take-back-program/

Seems pretty overblown if you ask me.

I stared at your link for far longer than I should have thinking, "There's a Wyoming in Tuvalu?"

And really if it's overblown aquarium owners really only have ourselves to blame, we're one of, if not the largest vector for the introduction of aquatic pests around the world.

Not overblown at all. Zebra muscles can devastate a native ecosystem if they get a foothold, which from what I gather, is pretty easy.

I drove into Utah from California in 2019, and I saw that there was an inspection point at the border for all watercraft coming into the state, with steep fines and possible confiscation if it was bypassed, all because of invasive zebra muscles.

I posted about this over in the Planted forum in March Betta Buddy Marimo Ball because I thought it would cover those who have live plants.

The news reports seem to have died down but not the problem.
