Moss on driftwood

How do you get moss to grow on drift wood? Do you have to plant it on there? And where could I get it besides moss balls because that's all I see.

depends on the moss.some grows on the wood, some needs to be held down somehow.
I got my java moss from aquabid and my peacock from ebay.

I have my light on 24/7 and the moss or whatever it is grows on there itself. I think it may be hair algae, its gets really long if I let it go long enough.

Its not long yet but it always gets there after a few months. Its like it dies off and then regrows.

I have java moss that just clings onto the wood... it's all about putting it in a spot where it has the chance to grow "into" the wood. I'll take a pic when I get home...
