What would be the best moss to use to make a moss wall? I want one for my 20gh. Also where is the best place to buy large amounts? my temp in the tank is 78°. Anyone use willow moss for a wall?

i would have to say taiwon or peacock moss. willow moss will perfer a cooler tank.

i once made a moss wall usin java moss and it worked well, too well. u reallly dont need large amounts of moss either, i did a 55 gallon in two sections using two or three handfulls from my lfs. be careful to trim the top often or it will block out the light from reaching the bottom moss.

Tooo true. I did the same with Java moss in my Dwarf cichlid tank (78F) a while ago and java moss is a really agressive grower even at these high temps.and trimming is essential!! But just be sure that you use a mesh that is well secured to the wall of your tank, and atleast 1/2cm X 1/2 Cm, as fish are really inquisitive exploratory creatures that will find a way to get behind the wall itself...I lost a few fish behind my moss wall :nilly:, and after loosing a second fish i took the wall down... So keep an eye on your fish.

I got the wall put up today now to see how it fills out. I ended up using Taiwan moss. I don't think any of my fish can get behind it but I will keep an eye out for them. Question on trimming. How do you trim moss. Do you take it out of the tank or do you just trim it there and clean up all of the clippings floating in your tank?
