moss?

I'm setting up 150G pond I used a rigid pond liner and I bought a lot of "naturally worn boulders and rocks" to put around the edge of the pond and to build the waterfall.
I really want to get some nice moss growing all over the rocks because I think it looks cool lol but will it come by it'self because of all the humidity? or is there anything I can do to make it spread faster??

also would this 150g pond be okay to house 1 Giant gourami I know they should be kept in a min of 200g aquariums but I figure the pond's larger amount of surface area, because of the ponds shape would allow bigger fish to be kept in a smaller place is this correct?

Go to the woods and collect your own, if legal....

Try to find moss already growing in the same exposure as your pond. Meaning, if your pond recieves more sun than shade, try to find moss growing in a moist sunny spot. And the opposite for the shady moss. I had some growing in a low spot along the side of my house. I transplanted it into several spots of the pond that got spray from the falls, or on rocks that absorb/wick water from the pond. Once I saw an area that it did well, (which was next to the falls were it gets constant splashing), but not a lot of water. I put a little more there and in spots close by. You want the spot to get just enough water to keep it moist, not soggy. Try a few spots and the moss will grow. Some might show up, but that could take years.

For terrestrial stones, an old landscaper's trick is to soak the rocks with water and paint them with buttermilk. I thought it was weird too, till I tried it with two rocks side by side and only painted one then dampened them daily. Moss grew way faster on the painted rock (4x?).

Also, it grows faster if you use aged, rain or treated water (no chlorine), used tank water works great.

Buttermilk def. works....

A buddy of mines mother took some moss, put it in a blender w/buttermilk and a little water, and presto. She had moss growing in the grout lines of her flagstone path in no time.

I heard about that But I thought putting it in a blender would kill it lol

It probally isn't the best thing for it, but it chops it up and make the spores a little easier to spread(use and old paint brush).
