moss = algae or moss = some form of aquatic vegetation? I would not introduce algae into my tank since it can be hard to get rid of, but aquatic vegetation such as hydrilla or coontail is ok in a tank.

I have used blackmoss and one unknown very similar to willow moss as well as spagnum moss in native tanks, expect to import some inverts, never had a problem with those but did end up bringing in caddis fly larvae, seed shrimp, scuds, tiny crayfish and some other goodies, the fish ate most of them.
The mosses did alright after I adjusted a powerhead to give some current across it. The blackmoss did tend to die if the temp got above 74 F. and they tend to lower your ph a bit.
