I live in New Mexico at 5500 feet year round temps are warm, I would like to keep trout at 70 degrees or under. Water table is well below reach proabley around 500 feet. Suggestions?

go buy a deep freeze and freeze chunks of ice every night and through them in? Honestly there is not a cheap way to keep something cold. especially if the pond is out doors. or not in a climate controlled environment. long term i would say build an insulated fish room around the pond put in a window unit and maybe a water cooler?

Uaru Joey has diy videos on how to make chillers out of mini refrigerators on YouTube. But this does sound like a very difficult task

Your best bet is to have shad over the pond, in the pond (lillies) and a large waterfall, the water will cool via evaporation

Perhaps digging deeper could help keep it cooler?

Read into this and crazy as it sounds this actually heats the water instead of cool it.

Really? I've never tried it just saw a video. How does it heat the water

If you put the fridge in a different room it won't heat the water. People say that because a fridge isn't very efficient and will put out more heat than it removes from the water. If you keep it in the same room as the tank you'll increase the room temperature a fair amount and counteract the cooling of the tank water.
