the insane apure catfish????

should claria channel catfish even be in here? they are more like a reg red tail cat not really serious aggression not capable of really fighting, i have seen cichlids beat them down.

Just curious these are giants i never got to have :(

Cept for gulper who would just swallow all

i guess claria are a lot like channel not really aggressive just pests to other fish and predatory but dont do damage like ARTC or wykyy that will tear a fishes face off or a gulper that will just swallow a bigger fish whole lol

what about the insane jelly catfish or asian red tail?
You talking about apurensis? ARTC still if you ask me. But I've not kept an apurensis. They're mostly predatory afaik but aren't a push over either. What kind of aggression you talking? Predatory aggression or territorial aggression? Predatory aggression might have to go to gulpers lol. But as far as territorial, I've not had or read of a fish that came close to wyckioides. Only fish I know of that rivals it may be dorado, and even then their aggression is different, the dorado more bullies a fish doesn't outright kill it, the artc bites to end the fish and swim right by the body like nothing happened. TBTB says his purple labeo rivals their aggression as well. But if your talking catfish only, I don't think anything rivals a wyckioides aggression level. That's from my experience and many I've read.

talking terrirtoral aggression and also bite power ability to damage, i have only had channel and clairias and they do not seem that powerful they do try to be bulllies but i have heard the ARTC and crystal eyed catfish are devils

are wykii close to the artc? in territorial aggession and power? I always thought bullheads were strong for size

A good ole' domestic flat head catfish. Very territorial, very predatory they rarely scavenge they are killers. They get 100+ lbs!
Read stories about "noodling" you will read about the power of their jaws and aggression.

Hands down Asian Red Tail Catfish (Hemi Wyckii)

Currently have a 16" with me and its a gorgeous beauty :)
Asian red tail catfish is hemibagrus wyckioides, not wyckii.

Ime and from what I've read of others who have kept both and discussed with another members who has kept both, wyckioides are worse on average. If I dare say, they can be much worse. Wyckii aggression seems to stem from its hide, it doesn't like other fish around it. Wyckioides on the other hand doesn't like fish within its area, its territory goes beyond its hideout, and what also makes it worse ime is that its more active and will patrol all levels of the tank here as wyckii rarely will chase a fish to the middle level of a tank let alone beyond that. Of course how far they go will depend on the height of the tank and size of the fish. I don't no know if anyone who has found a fish to keep a wyckioides in check, except maybe a guy who claimed to have a 2 footer with a 2' dovii in a 600g where they fought eachother till they accepted that no one would win and eventually left eachother alone (if I must say sounds like bs to me), where as I and others have found fish to keep wyckii in their place.

As far as power I can't say, their are videos on YouTube where you can see wyckii have power behind their bite, such as justarns famous Midas vs wyckii video, you can hear the bite loudly, and then theirs the videos of wyckii biting magnets. There are the reports of them crushing heaters etc. but as far as wyckioides I got the one I had at about 16" and he made the rear end of a 14"+ Florida gar pretty flat, almost half of the gar was flattened, he bit clean through a thick wolffish despite them having no razor sharp teeth, and he bit a male convict one time and one of the eyes popped out. They both have power, which ones stronger? I can't answer that, they're both aggressive though, so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get them to bite something that can say the force etc.

And I've heard of flatheads being aggressive as said above, but I've never kept one to vouch for them.
