Anyone have an opinion on what the most colorful geophagus species is as an adult? I love the Sveni but keep seeing pics of red head tapajos and may go that route.

Any opinions? Would appreciate personal pics of your fish as well!

Personally I love red heads but occasionally I see a Daemon that blows all other fish out of the water

I had a geophagus brasiliensis, loved him, think they're gorgeous fish. Unfortunately the only decent picture I have of him is still crappy but anyway..

Although if it matters to you last I heard they were awaiting reclassification from geophagus to something more appropriate, they act more like amphilophus than geophagus.

Only thing I will say is if you consider getting one you'll need a large tank, my boy was 13" in 5 years and very intelligent. I had him in a 5' 400ltr and he was quite cramped imo. We were in the process of getting quotes for a 10'x4'x2' tank when we lost him. His name was Horace if you care. :)

Anyway, picture:

For reference that SD below him was around 6 years old and around 6" long.

Post script: sorry to the older members for the repeating of this ?

I currently keep Winemilleri and Gurupi. Love the winemilleri’s colors but Sveni pop a whole lot more. Everyone has them now so if you’re wanting something unique and colorful, hard to beat mirabilis. panta Rhei is super rare but I would put that at the top for rarity and beauty.
