What is the most popular/compatible tankmate to keep with rays?
I have a 5-6" diameter yepezi and it needs some friends.

I would go with the large Geophagus and Satanoperca sp,reason being they dont compete too heavily for food when kept with stingrays, they fit in well with the whole South American biotope and last but not least they are very beautiful fish with a peaceful disposition that frequent the middle to bottom regions of the tank.
Just my opinion!

Probably an arowana, if you've got an appropriate tank.

Maybe other rays?

Or get a giant school of neon tetras! Sure, your ray will munch on a few, but it can't get them all, right? How cool would that look?

geo sp. and santanoperca, datnoids, arrowanna, frontosa oddly enough, severums, bichirs ( can be iffy byt 98% time fine combo) gars and the list can go on... seen lots of very crazy combos pending on the rays discuss are great tetras in large numbers clown loaches and other loaches can be another IFFY... what kind of tank mates did you have in mind..

Probably not arowanas or gars, just because its an open top tank and I've had my share of gars stuck to the floor...

I would like dat's, but it will be hard to find any of size. Bichirs are an option though. So are other rays, I might just do rays and bichirs.

I don't really like the looks of eartheaters.. I would rather some oddballs. If I do go with another ray would a motoro be a good tankmate?

Pretty much any mid to top water fish. This is my set up.

Beautiful setup.
Do all those cichlids leave the ray's eyes alone? I am diggin the big goldfish BTW LOL.

My cichlids don't even notice the ray. Even during feeding, no probs at all. The gold fish is the cleaning crew.
