most heat retaining design

hi guys

i am looking at building a fish room for marine coral propagation

i will need 2/3 pools approx 6'x3'x1'

very shallow large surface area

now i want to keep the bills to a minimum - i think wooden ponds will be the cheapest way to do it

but what design is best for retaining heat ect...
