Well i have been offered a 180g for free and im just wondering if you guys could suggest an interactive pair that would fit the bill. Im not to keen on the idea of festae as it seems they are very popular at the moment, iv kept grammodes, h.carpintis and oscars before so i would like to try something different. There would be nothing else in the tank but the pair as im hoping i could maybe even get them breeding. Im looking for a pair that would show some good interaction. Thanks in advance

I'd say Jags every time! Awesome fish, especially in pairs! :)

A colony of Frontosa's, or a pair of "EX" Cichlasoma Orantum..
I know it's not the African Forum, but I gotta agree with JML1997 on a colony of Front's for a 180 is a awesome idea. They're great fish between that huge mouth of their's the awesome Nuchal Bump and blue coloration on the Zaires and Mpimbwe what's not to love. As for a suggestion for a CA/SA cichlid in a 180 it depends on if your going with a comm. or not. I'll assume your going with a staight pair only in the tank. I'd go with Festae or a Synspila pair. Both get to a decent size and at large sizes are truly stunning and those are my 2 cents.

keep the suggestions coming guys, i have a community tank so would really like just a pair, id like something that was nice and interactive and i dont just mean glass bangers although i dont mind that part.

What about a pair of istlanum? I would say parachromis sp. In general are pretty entertaining, you got loisellei, red tiger motaguense, friedrichsthali, managuense to choose from. Jaguars (managuensis) in general can be kept in a 180 for life imo, and are really cool to watch and will interact. There is also amphilphus sp. That are very personable as well as other members have suggested, such as citrinellum (midas,) Lyonsi, and trimacs. Also vieja/ paratheraps sp. That are very colorful and outgoing like argentea, zonatum, and fenestratus. Have fun!
