Im going into 11th grade and Im applying to one of the most competitive summer pre-collegiate programs across the country in math and science. My subfield is environmental science and tropical ecology. My particular interest Im talking about is ichthyology, and one essay question asks what I think are some of the most pressing issues or questions facing the field of ichthyology or tropical ecology or environmental science in general. I have my own ideas, now I want to ask MFK. So tell me what you all think?

If it were me I would do it on third world countries have no disregard for the environment and simply eating anything they catch and destoyring habitat for countless species, including dams which falls into the ichthyology field. There's also the generic invasive species essay that you can do.

Living in south florida, invasive species are a huge issue. But you're right, its generic. Its funny you mention that, when I spent this summer in Guyana doing research on Apistogramma for a different program, my research centered around genetic adaptations above and below a dam and above and below a naturally dammed area. I was planning on incorporating this into my essay. Thanks for the opinion!
