Just wondering--what are the most prolific amphibians out there? I'd assume it's some kind of relatively common frog (or maybe newt?) but I really have no idea.

Been reading about these black marsh snakes that primarily eat amphibian offspring (although they eat guppies in captivity, apparently). Would like to try to duplicate their natural diet as best as possible, so I'm wondering.

At this point this is all hypothetical, but I kind of want to give it a shot.

It would be ideal if it can live in tropical conditions, but also open to temperate suggestions.

I sort of assumed it'd be something more aquatic. I mean something that produces in great numbers at once. Of course that could just be the common toad.

Not far from where I live there is a pretty big toad crossing every spring.

I suppose common toad makes some sense. I sort of assumed the really prolific ones would be more aquatic--as in more babies come out in one batch, cause they're likely to be picked off in the water. But I guess all amphibians grow up in the water so they've got this strategy in common.

Anything more aquatic? Some kinda frog maybe?
