Hey y'all,

Do any of you have any recommendations for a fish that breeds easily and rapidly. I need this for a science experiment.

guppies, danios, swordtails, convicts, gymnogeophagus, umbees, amphilophus sp. all fish i consider "just adding water" as their breeding requirements. Depends on what size tank you've got and what your interest is

How often do swordtails release a brood of fry?

Not sure- I keep my group with fish that prey on the fry but it looks like 35-50 per batch.

not sure maybe guppies never kept them!

Guppies go at a similar rate - haven’t personally bred them but heard the stories. I’d go for them because they are smaller and more can be fit in the space.
What’s the experiment? Some fish may be better suited for different projects?

What's a good male to female ratio for swordtails?

I like at "least" 1 male to 6 females. It's also going to depend on the size of the tank.
