Click on the youtube link to view my most recent, 9/9, video and earlier ones. Please note that the Tinfoil Barbs will be removed in the near future to free up space for the rest of the big boy's. If anyone has suggestions for the Decor of the tank I'd really appreciate it. I'll like to make the tank look more like a natural habitat than an aquarium , without over doing it. Thanks and enjoy!

Nice looking fish.

One thing though. If I were you, I would take out all the shell substrate and use sand or just small gravel...shells are not good for most SA/CA cichlids. I think for one it raises the ph but probably not much. That's not the main reason though, why I'm recommending it is because large cichlids usually like to dig and move their substrate around and the shells would seem too sharp edged imo. Again, you have some good looking fish...keep up the good work.

If I were to take out the shells and replace the gravel with smaller pebbles or with sand, I would obviously have to take out all of my fish right?

Is cleaning a tank with sand any different than cleaning one with gravel? I've been wanting to switch to sand for a while now. Thanks for the advise!

Nice vid do you get any aggression problems from the GT? Only ask because mine has turned into a right nasty bugger.

My GT is the coolest cat on the block! Greatest peresonality. I've seen limited aggression from her, only towards the Tinfoil Barbs because there always swimming at 100mph in front of everyones face. My GT gets along great with my two O's and with everyone else. The fact that I put her in the tank with 2 big O's when she was little could have helped keep her cool. Either way, my GT is my favorite fish :-)

You don't have to take the fish out if you are changing substrate. I switched from gravel to sand without removing any fish.

Scoop out substrate with a net or a bucktet.

Make sure you get it all. :D

Rinse your new substrate vigorously, or you will have residual dust... like this. :(

Let everything settle before turning your filters back on, and do additional w/c's to get rid of dust if necessary.

Cleaning a tank with sand is easier than gravel. Do you have a Leslie's Pool Supply in your town? If so, get Leslie's Pool Supply brand 20-grade pool filter sand. It's large grained so it falls back down quickly when disturbed and you only have to rinse a few times to get it clean with no dust cloud. It's $12.99 per 50 lb. bag but well worth the extra cost IMO because it's heavy, extra clean and very beautiful in the tank. You'll love it and wonder why you didn't switch long ago.

xEchOx,nice job on the play by play pics.
