Well these two finally got busy. Head shaking, constand digging, bickering and finally...we have eggs on the backside of a large rock. Can't really take pics of eggs...but looks like just any other eggs I guess. Even though these guys are a good 7" each, this is their first spawn and I didn't see too many eggs (as compared to a breeding pair of jags I used to own). Maybe next spawn will be more.

I hope the boy did his part right and fertilized the eggs. Last night they kept hiding behind the rock, so I'm guess he was taking care of business. Funny thing is now, the female sits behind the rock and peeks out like a ground squirrel looking out his burrow.

Anyway, hopefully they hatch on Sunday.

Congrats on the spawn and very nice looking pair!

If you grow out the fry and decide to sell the fry and ship, I am interested. Beautiful pair by the way!

Thanks guys,

I still have to see if the eggs hatch (first eggs may or may not have been fertilized right), then I'll see how many fry I'll get. Truthfully I'm breeding to get the colors out of my pair...any fry that I get are a bonus.

Does anyone know how long it will take to get the fry to a "sellable" size...say 2"? I've bought 1" RTM fry before and lost some $$$ doing that since the fry are very fragile and end up plainly dying or getting sick later down the road.

More eye candy...
