Motaguense.. whoever's got them post them and what's the biggest you've ever seen or heard of....

Seems to be quite a few people that currently have Motas.. was wondering if people were down to post them all on one thread... Also wanted to find out what's the biggest anyone's ever seen or heard... Mine I am guessing is approximately 3 years old I have had him for two and a half years from a size of about two inches , he is now about 12 inches....

My two girls (sold the smaller, so just have the biggest now) - just under 8" and about 8.5" TL for the larger one. Believe it or not, these were given to me free - they were never really aggressive - I even kept Kribensis with them long term (from fry I didn't know what to do w/) - granted w/ a lot of hiding places. Unfortunately they are very skittish compared to the rest of my fish.

I've got 5 of them around 2". Used to own a breeding pair several years ago. Can't say I've seen many large ones in person but my male was about 10" and the female was around 7"

Is it just me or does that first fish look humpbacked,and if it does what could cause this.Just curios I don't want mine to develop like that if it's something I could prevent

Well I do have to agree that my motaguense is more rotund than many... Whether it's an actual deformity or just a matter of being large ,I guess would be a question a qualified fish biologist could answer..the different causes of a humped back to my knowledge could be genetic or disease if one is worried about it... Overall I'm pretty happy with his size and thickness and build, even if it's was determined to be not completely normal ,just like some people like different size nuchal humps on their fish some very large and some medium or not at all.... I know that many motaguense are more torpedo-shaped but as they get older some developed size and thickness mine's not unique there's a bigger mota in the hobby ...check this one out. I was posting this thread just to see if I could flush out other people who know of large motas , I've heard the max size can be 14 inches but I know that people have stated 16 or 18 inches , just want to see if anybody knows where these big boys are... Here's a couple of shots of one that's not mine that's around 14 inches....

Mine again.... Stampion you got a nice mota, I hope it turns out the way you want him to but I have to say that yours got some thickness to him too and once upon a time my mota and the other one looked very similar to yours.....
