Hi all, need some advise over here. I've got a 7 tp 8 inch motoro ray in my tank now. can i put in my 8 inch royal pleco in the same tank to comm? will they fight or disturb each other? advise please ppl!

I have a royal pleco in with my ray and have had no problems i chose that as i was told they are the best plecs to keep with rays.
and iwent to a guys house that knows lots about fish and had a large royal pleco in with 5 leos so i think you should be ok.

not a good idea :(

Ahh, the Pleco/Stingray debate!!!
Really there is no debate...Stingrays and Plecos don't mix. They can cohabitate for awhile....and that time frame may be a long while...but sooner or later that pleco is going to get a taste for the slime coat on your rays disk and do some damage.I have read lots of threads where people have kept rays and plecos together with no problems, and I have also read some where the Pleco started munching on the ray at night...in some cases killed the ray!
All that being said...I have a 2" BN Pleco in with my 6" Motoro. I watch VERY closely and if I see any problems....Pleco is OUTTA there. I think that key is to find the right pleco and KEEP IT WELL FED!

What would make you say that?
Not trying to pick a fight just wondering if you had a bad experience.

Yes I have bad experience twice ... one of them is on this forum; right now I can't find this post...

Pleco, the bigger one can bite a rays very bad. Trust me, you don't want mix those fish together. If you like to have Pleco in your tank, buy the smaller one, where the maximum size is less than 4-5".

You may give it a try. Plecos grow slower than rays so there will be a size difference in the future. Cater for that. Please note that different plecos tend to have different diet. Choose the vegans.

Royals are largely vegetarians so there is a higher chance of success. Large plecos can suck the slime off the ray in a day and kill it or shred the ray with it's armor. You need to monitor closely.

i have kept large royals and sunshine/goldie with the 5 motoros for about 1yr now. never have any problems. the royals are close to 12" and goldies are not much smaller. in the tank there are also a 6" 3 beacon and a 5" goldie. i have 2 large tree stumps and feed them twice daily. when i first got the motoros last yr (they were all above 8" at that time), my tank was not ready so i boarded them in my friend's tanks. one of the 125g has about 8 large blood parrots/kkp (with the deformed/non closing mouth). the next morning, one of the small ray had her one eye almost bitten off!!! (she is completely healed by the way) (now her favorite food is large blood parrots...just kidding)

Looks like its actually how we feed our plecos, do not let them be hungry so that they'll go for the slime on the rays? Btw i tried putting in my royal in my motoro tank, it seems to be trying to go near to the motoros :(

I wouldn't worry about the pleco hurting the ray.i would be more worried about the ray destroying the pleco.i have kept rays with plecos lots end result is damaged pleco or dead plecos.
