motoro blue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive heard that eventually the blue fades away...

They will lose the blue after about 6 months, supposedly they eat something in the wild that caused the blue and when they cant eat it anymore in aquariums they lose the color. We have pair and after 6 months they lost the bloe coloration.

There are no such a thing as blue motoro the same thing like when they say blue arowana when it is black.

There are motoros that have blue edges around the disc, and sometimes even a bit more than that. You see them with blue around the spots. There is also a similar motoro "colour" but they are red, but they don't get discussed much. I was under the impression they loose the blue, but the motoros with just the blue outta disc seem a bit different to the ones with blueish rings also.

If you mean that the ray isnt classified as "blue" you are correct...There are many morphs that are considered to be under the "motoro" umbrella..but the blue is a temporary color which leads us to think it is tied to environmental effects...i.e. food, water condition etc....The Black Aro is the Same as a blue, It was simply given the name for better sales, and to not refer to them as "black" since they are illegal in some states. THe black Aro is black when young, and then has blue finnage for a large part of its life...making Either common name relatively acceptable. Confusion like this as well as LFS naming fish w/e they want support my desire for the elimination of common names...

If you are saying that there is no such thing as a motoro with blue however...
