motoro rays and substrate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no, they don't need sand. barebottom makes it easier to clean, although some people keep it in the tank to make it look more natural and comfortable for the ray. but rays that feel comfotable in their tanks rarely bury themselves anyways, so feel free to keep it bare

Sand is not a must. Rays can go barebottom BUT are less stressed and more comfortable with sand IMHO.

never had one problem with bare bottom...

smooth gravels are fine to use...

works better IMO... keep water cleaner.. see how much the rays are eating etc....

I use sand in our breeding tanks. A friend has a bare bottom tank and I think it shows the rays' colors off more. I've also kept rays on smooth gravel. They can and will do well on just about anything.

Yeah, that makes sense because in the wild it's not like there is only one type of substrate. I may just leave gravel in my tank and see how they do.
