Hey guys, just wondering if a 20cm tiger bichir (delhezi) would go okay with a motoro pair? the motoro pair are close to 20cm across the disk as well. tank is a 6x2x2 bare bottom.

some people have bichers with rays lots of people dont though. they might be fine for a while or might not be fine from the start. bichers can cause alot of damage when they do decide to bite. me personally wont take the risk with bichers anymore.

+1 Wot he said:D

I think it does depend on the individual fish, i have a bunch of bichir's in with my Marbled Motoro and i've only seen it bit once, it wasn't an agressive bite just my larger lap trying to get some food and my rays disc was covering it. The bichir seemd more shocked than the ray.

However i did have a bichir (endli) in with some motoro's and it was pretty agressive and it didn't take long before i had to remove the bichir as it was trying to death roll the smaller motoro!

If you wanna give it a try id say go for it providing the size's are similar and just keep an eye on things.

I think it's funny that you mention a ray getting bit and then another incident where the ray was death rolled and you still suggest putting the two together.

I think its funny where you failed to read my whole post! A ray getting a small nip is not the end of the world i mean look at what a pair of rays will do to each other by taking chunks out of each other yet you wouldn't not have a male and female together.

AS I SAID IN MY ABOVE POST it depends on the temprament of the indivual fish i have 8 bichirs with my ray no problems there was only the one endli i got that was agressive and that went. Providing the rays are similar size as the poly so neither see's each other as food you'll most likely be golden.

Learn to read before making dumb as comments :)

I did read your full post and I get what you're saying. However, you went on to give two examples of your own rays getting attacked by bichirs.

Do as you want, I just think it's silly to stress out a ray by having something in it's tank that could attack it. What if the bichir bites an eye or a tail instead of the disc?

You run the same risk with the eye and tail bit as you do with many other fish, i don;t stress about it really as i have have kept an eye on my bichir's for the time ive had them in with the ray and know everything is good; The reason i said it depends on the fish , most bichir's are not agressive with anything not considered food but you will get the odd one which is a bit of a nutter.
