Motoro Stingray and Salt - any negative side effects?

Hello fellow ray keepers,

I want to add 1lb/100G to my tank that houses two motoros and black aro. Is there anything I should watch out for when adding the salt. I know to dilute it with tank water first and then add it back in (to not burn the rays discs).

I read some posts that salt can cause cloudy eyes in rays. Currently the rays have some nipped fins and I just want to help speed up their healing process. I don't not compound a small matter, into more trouble.

Please post your experience with salt. Thank you!

PS. Is kosher salt a good salt to use?

no idea about the kosher salt.

i have used salt with my rays and there were nothing but positive affects.

i wouldent use it long term.

im just bout to dose my tank again as its been a little while since i last added it and my small pearl has a nipped tail again. im positive the other rays are nipping at her tail.

Kosher salt is fine. what are you using it for, becuase 1lb per 100 gallon is a pretty small dose. Just remember not to add all 1lb at once, gradually do it over an hour or two.

Small doses like 1lb are kind of like a tonic, it might not have much affect. Maybe try 2-3 pounds, that seems to get things going.
