Hey I have a small Motoro Stingray that is struggling and I am not sure how to help him so I am lookin for ideas or suggestions. 2 nights ago I fed him, and turned off the light as I always do. Woke up the next morning to find him floating at the top of the tank, when I touched him he took off like a wild man and spent the remainder of the day breathing really heavily. After doing some research I determined he wasn't getting enough oxygen in the water because of a recent change to a canister filter. So I threw in a HOB filter and an air stone, within an hour his breathing had slowed to normal. Yesterday I woke to his disc looking like it was discoloring, I did a water change, checked the parameters all is well there. This morning the disc dicoloraton has continued but not spread anymore, now it is beginning to flake off an die. I am trying to determine if he scratched himself, or it was lack or oxygen or somehow he got burned. Anyways at thus point I don't know how it happened I am just looking to figure out how to help it heal and get my guy back to full health.

that does look bad. Looks like disc rot at this point. It could have started with a burn. I would salt the tank and add melafix ( I don't say this often). I would also pick up antibiotics . Can you get oxytetracycline? This will hurt the filter so you need to watch water quality very well

25% daily water changes, add a little salt, get the heater out of the tank, put a guard on your filter Intake, rule out bad tank mates, no lights/cover tank. Feed favorite food 3x daily if eating. Should recover without issues IF it will eat. That sand also looks quite abrasive, what kind is it?
