motoro stingray strange behavior?

I would test your water and let us know what the results are followed by a decent size water change.

But he might just be irritated by the sand as it appears to be pretty fine and sticking to him. Looks like he might just be "flicking" it off

There is nothing to worry about man rays do that all the time. He was just brushing the sand off. You could test your water it never hurt. Also that is not just a motoro its a really nice marble motoro.

Rays crack me up, one minute they want to be buried in the sand... the next they want it all off lol.

Provide your test result hear if you find anything out of the norm. If you did just get this fish the possibility always exist that your tank could be having a hard time keeping up with all the ammonia sting rays produce. I have noticed in the past that tanks can experience almost a stingray shock when you initially add a ray until enough bacteria grow to handle the increased bio-load.

thanks for ur response... and yes this is temporary housing im getting a 180 gallon in 2-3 weeks

just checking, often times there are fish in tanks much too small for them.
you'll have to look into rehousing out of the 180 in the future as well, i would imagine. it all depends on how big your ray ends up genetically.
