motoro stingray with arowana ?

Hi ,

Some of you might now that im getting an silver arowana and a red oscar , there sizes are 5" arowana , 3" red oscar and the motoro is 5" , could i keep these together ?


I currently have a 55g tank , I am upgrading after new year mabye just before , to something at least 5ft , and if i have to go bigger i will .

Also could i keep these with 2 feather fin synodontis catfish , plec and a black shark?

is that a silver arowana or asian arowana?

yes you can keep them together when they are little, but when the oscar grows bigger you might have problem.

Arowana and stingray together is fine, just make sure one is not too bigger than the other.

it's best not to keep any plec if you want to keep stingray.

syno and black shark will be ok.

Because plecos Suck.... Suck on the Rays slime coat and will stress them out and they could die bla bla bla.

Not a good tankmate for any Ray (you can and people have had success but its highly not reccomended)

Plecos I've had no problems in combination with rays are vampire plecos, rhinoceros plecos, and L114 or red-tailed leopard cactus to name a few. Can be risky but I've never had a problem. You just need to observe their behavior to make sure all is well. Ray and aros at adequate and/or comparable size should be fine. If you're not limited when you upgrade around New Years, the bigger the better!

Going by what you said in the aro forum, if you're not willing to go more than 2' wide, rays are not your thing.

Also i would love a big tank but it is if the missus lets it happen (you no what they are like )

IF you change your mind, we discus keepers have the same problem with plecos, i have 8 discus and 2 L260s and i make sure they are all well fed and happy and i never have a problem

i got 18" arowana with 18" rays... and 8" arowana with 10" rays...
so far so good...

Hey guys. I too have a 9-10 inch Asian aro but I brought a pearl stingray and it's just 5 inches. Is there any way to properly introduce them ? Will the pearl grow faster than the aro so I could introduce sometime in the near future? Please let me know your thoughts on this.thanks.
