what would be a good tank size for a motoro ray. how big of a tank does it need for life. im thinking about getting one of this in the next year or so and just want to gather as much info as possible before i actually get one. thanks for your help

You can put more than one ray in those size tanks. You could house 4-5 of them in the tanks miles recommended. The problem is when you have a ray that in 5 years gets 20 inches or more in diameter they are almost 3 feet long. If you put a ray that size in a 2 foot tank and it's nose and tail touch both sides it will get extremely agitated.

Yeah, exactly as FishDog says the size of a mature motoro is the big factor here. It's not so much the volume that's as important as the footprint of the tank. You need a tank with enough room on the bottom for the ray to be able to move around freely. That being said, volume of the tank is still important for water quality issues. Rays create a lot of bio-load, and the more water you have, the more it dilutes the waste between water changes.

180 (6x2) to start

460 (8x4) to end

You can always go bigger if you want..
