I currently have a bgkf in a 55 gallon grow out tank. Me and my brother are upgrading to a 180 gallon soon, and we wanted a motoro stingray. I would like to know if these 2 are compatible thanks in advance!

Those two fish are compatible, but a motoro stingray gets way too big for a little 180! Shoot for 8 feet × 4 feet footprint

Yes, they are not cheap...especially the care of them. Cost an incredible amount to care for properly!!

For sure in some ways... Super expensive to keep, big appetite, big tanks, big filtration. But probably the most hardy and easy to break into non live food

For me the red flags are cheap acquisition price, (more accessible to those who can't house them) a max size rivaling or larger than black rays, and the poor price margin leads to a lot of them being cared for more poorly than there more expensive friends. At least retics stays a bit smaller, I feel like 8x4 is not enough for a some of the bigger female motos I've seen.

I agree 100%...so really new comers are not friendly to motoros!! It's tough, everybody has to start somewhere..and most people don't want to learn how to keep a ray with a $1500 ray! I understand it completely. Retics probably get the trophy for most abused ray on the planet tho. They are cheap and sold under the horribly misleading name "teacup"!! People think they stay 6 to 8 inches!!! It's too bad really, but it's the way it is. Good thing for MFK to help people who are willing to ask questions first.

Even captive bred motos are a step up. No health issues related to cheap price tag, a knowledge of what the adults size are like and still keeps cheap price. marble motoro are a step up in most ways though. Retailers give the rays way better care even at 250 a shot.
