cichlid city
hey guys got a quick question, how long could a 10 inch motoro cichlid stay in a 55 gallon.also do they have to have sand.any other info would be greatly apreciated.

motoro cichlid? never heard of it. If you mean stingray, a 10" motoro in a 12" wide tank just doesn't work. If you mean 10" disc size, it wouldn't even be able to move, not to mention the bioload of a ray that size would be far too high for a tank that size. Even 10" total length is way too big for a 55. Sorry.

I agree with the above poster, pretty much summed it all up. I would try to get at least a 150 gallon tank to grow out a motoro. Motoro's get pretty big(females can have a disk size of 30"+) so a pond would be needed as they get older. I would suggest that you research a lot on this site before getting a ray-there is a lot of useful information on this site.

yea,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i ment stingray.what about teacup stingrays?will they do okay in a 55 gallon?

There is NO ray, freshwater or otherwise, that can be kept properly in a 55g.

with NO cichlids ... they are to agressive and normally go for the eyes of rays...

You will need a tank that is about 6-8 feet long, 4 feet wide amd 2 ft. high. Which is good for 1-3 Motoro Stingrays not "Motoro cichlids."
