I have 2 motors. The male is about 10" and the female is 8" (These are guesses on diameter). The tank mates are 9 Nicaraguan cichlids. The Nics seem to nest and mate but never seen any fry probably a feeding frenzy for the others and rays. Anyways my rays stick to one corner of the tank and don't really do anything. Rarely they will be on the other side and that seems to be where the nics hang out. They eat well and I feed them often water parameter are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrates are around 10 to 30ppm. I see people on social media and they have rays that are swimming in the current and stuff. Mine rarely come off the bottom and stick to that corner. I am wanting some input on the behavior. Is this normal or is it due to the nics? I feed shrimp tilapia twice a day and they hammer it.
Thanks in advacne

I am not familiar with the temperament of your Nics. However, i would expect to see the rays moving around the tank, not hold up in 1 corner. Why not move the nics for a while and see if the rays behaviour changes?

God idea. I don't really have a extra tank for them right now but I can throw them in the sump

Ya. Seperate for a while. That will answer the question for ya

I haven't separated them yet. I have had a busy week at work and not been home. I have made an observation though. When I look in the room without entering the rays are everywhere in the tank. The female was up the glass the other day and the male was swimming in the water column. The second they see me they go to that corner. I feed them in that corner of the tank as well. Could they just associate me with food and run to the corner to be fed? Can the rays even see me? This is in my fish room where we have very little traffic but myself. The wife and kids rarely go in.
Thanks
