I've got a thread in the Photo Lounge, but figure I'd cross post on here as well. I picked these guys up last week. They're marble x motoro born and bred in NJ. They've been an absolute joy thus far, eating well on shrimp, tilapia, earthworms, and pellets. First, some shots from day one, July 13, 2012...

Fast forward a couple of days, and they've been packing on weight like its going out of style. I snapped these pics a few minutes ago...July 17, 2012

I love the ease of the tiles, but I think I may suck it up and do sand in their new tank. Any suggestions on brand?

They look great, I did tile but had the same issue your having, Algae. I used slate tiles and they were even harder to get the algae off. I use Estes Ceramaquartz now. (Black)
Any issues with the bichirs nipping?

Its not so much a matter of difficulty as it is my laziness. I had a nice fei feng in this tank before the rays, but had bad luck with that combo in the past. As far as the endlies, I knew that was a gamble too. I keep the tank very well fed, so no issues with nipping yet. The endlies are growing like weeds so I'm keeping a close eye on them. Any pics of your tank? I want to choose a sand that isn't so light that it gets caught in the water column.

Very nice!

very nice marble's u hv there

Nice looking pups

Thanks! They're only half marble, but the darker one definitely has the makings of a full blown marble. The next few months should be very interesting!

I saw this at my LFS the other day. It looks nice, but a little on the pricey side.

Its plenty heavy enough. Even as low as my FX5 intakes are it never gets sucked into them. Its called black but more of a dark charcoal gray. The halide light in the video makes it appear lighter than it actually is. They have quite a few other colors as well.

I love that halide shimmer! And yeah I see what you mean as far as weight and grain size. I'll definitely look into this. I'd prefer something a little lighter and natural looking, but to each his own in that regard. I'm going to try and source some locally. Beautiful fish btw...love the VATF!
