How common are mottled variants of ornate bichirs? I went to Big al's today and noticed that one of the ornates wasn't colored the same as the others in the tank. Instead of the usual dullish scales, it's entire body was covered with many yellow and black spots. I tried buying it but they said the shipment just arrived today and that i should come back in a week. I hope it isn't gone by then :(.

I'm not familiar with it, but couldn't they have put it on hold for you at least?

I asked but the guy refused saying that they couldn't hold anything unless it had a price on it. I'm going there tomorrow. Hopefully its still there :)

man im looking for one the same as u said it looks like this

thats good that they said that to you, i mean perhaps it might die and thats why they are saying you should wait a week...they might say that to other customers too! :)
