Had a 4" pair of Polypterus senegalus in a 30g tank for 5 months, only to find Stubby floating lifeless this morning... body was intact so it couldn't have been attacked by Spike right

No other possible suspects...
I just cleaned their tank 6 days ago
Now i have this weird grey mush with black spots or possibly mold at the bottom of the tank.

Any ideas?

Tried to take pictures of the muck but camera sucks everything was underexposed :wall:

Nice to reminisce when they were staring me down to buy them off the sidewalk vendor...:hypnotize

I actually haven't checked water parameters coz I never had any problems before... I was naive to think they would've been able to handle it.

Sorry to hear that buddy, but if you got mold or whatever obviously thats not a good thing, was it there before he died or after, and can you get pics, also you know you should have checked your params.

Is your gravel to large for them to swallow. I had a senegal die once because when he was eating bloodworms he accidentally swallowed a piece of gravel that he did not spit back out and it killed him.

feel your pain bro...

I cried when my senegal died 4 years ago. Never had the courage to keep another one until recently
