Hey all,
I moved this weekend to a beautiful cabin in the woods by Lake Sacandaga in upstate New York this weekend, in that regards I couldn't be happier and life is very good right now.
Except for the fact that I grossly misjudged how long the move would take. I don't know for sure what happened and that isn't the point of this thread. But when I opened up my 5 gallon bucket full of Central American cichlids the water was way colder than I thought it would be. I reached in my hand and pulled out my girlfriends treasured 7" Queen Rose cichild- stiff as a board. I reached in again and found my 7" Maculicauda, mouth open stiff as a board. I ran downstairs knowing my prized Polleni was in there, shoved him in the 90 and moved him back and forth to get water flowing through his gills. He got pissed at me and swam away, to my elation he is absolutely fine.
I went back to the previously mentioned 5 gallon CA bucket and found a 2" Synspilum I just bought and my wild caught Jeff Rapps Festae, only about 2- 2.5 inches, both miraculously alive. Basically I lost most of my fish, they're all living together in a 90 for now recovering from the move. And my green spotted puffers somehow were not affected at all by the whole thing.
Death Toll: 2 Vieja Maculicauda, 3 Vieja Synspilum, Amphilophus Sagittae, Amphilophus Labiatus, Hoplarchus Psittacus, 3 Silver Dollars, Angelfish, Queen Rose, Breidohri (Ouch)
This sucks. But, it's time to rebuild- better and stronger.
