Male keeps swapping tail on female's body/tail, when the female runs away from the male, male fin nips her. Now they are mouth locking, is the male trying to kill the female or is it transfering spearms to the female carpintis?

if they're locking mouths, i would guess that he isnt being romantic, just a sel-fish hahahahahahaha
but seriously... sounds like they're fighting

i just watched your you tube vid, and yeah that male is being a little s***
your female's fins are a little torn up, which is no biggie cause they will easily grow back if you can just give her a break from his antics... maybe you should consider adding another female or 2 (if you can get ahold of some) cause thatll divert his attention from the one in there

oh thats impossible, those are wild caught from Mexico, treated, and imported to the US. You cannot find carpintis vontehillo from petstore and exporter only sell by pairs, no singles.

could you divide the tank and have female sized holes in them so she can go back and forth to get away from him when hes being sh**ty, but they can still get together to mate

same as other guy said, old divider too small, so i went to Home Depot today and bought light diffuser. Female is slightly smaller than the male, so imma wait them to grow a little bigger then cut a bigger square.

In Mexico, that exporter has only sold the wild caught carpintis to Ira, didn't sell to anybody else. In the U.S., other than Ira(the supplier), i am the only person who keeps carpintis vontehillo, its not even in the 6 carpintis varieties. Ira has 2 more pairs, you can go to market buy&sell and search for "wish list".[/QUOTE]
