Hello. I have a 125g fish tank in my current location and I might be moving 15 miles away, neighboring city. I have a wet/dry filter setup and was wondering what I would have to prepare for to move these fish? Would I just keep a very little amount of water in the tank and baggy up the fish? Would my wet/dry filter be ok to just set it up at my new location and fill it up, add malawi conditioners and wait for water to warm up and be set?

What I would do, is fill up two totes with water, one with fish and another with the bio media you have. Buy two battery powered air pumps as it will probably be a while from the time you take the tank down to the time you set it back up.

your in cali! go buy another 1000 gallon tank for $8 dollars and set it up before the move, lol. but really, when i moved iput fish and bio together, as the bio needs to be fed too, in coolers for the move but had a cycled tank to put em in. you will to if you keep the bio media good. there will be little or no cycle

:iagree::iagree::iagree: keep the fish in the same tote with the bio media to keep it fed, throw on a battery operated air stone and bam you have a filtered tote.

Damn, where can I get a 1000g for $8? So I pretty much have to have a tank established at the location for this to work correctly? I can't just pack it all up, move it, fill it and throw the right conditioners in, wait for water to warm and start it up?

yeah just pack it all up, move it, and refill. refill with water the same temp as your tank was, condition, and put the fish in. you might have to acclimate the fish if your water is coming from a different source though.

use the water your transporting as part of refilling the tank

:iagree: definitely, as much as possible

just make sure you keep your filter media in the water with the fish, or all your bacteria will die and you will have to recycle your tank.

you must cycle young grasshopper. or use cycled media:naughty:. but cali is the best place in the WORLD to get big tanks cheap.
