so my 300g setup is ready and figured it was time to move my arowana over from my 125. i planned on a drip acclimation and had a 15 gallon bucket ready filled with about 5gal of tank water. i pulled off 1 of the tops so i could net him with my 14" net and get him into the bucket.

i dont think he appeciated it very much and decided to make a break for it. the next thing i know he is about 20 feet across the room on the floor.
i worked as fast as a could to get him back into the bucket. after what seemed an hour, but was 20 second i got him in. then after a few second decided he didnt like it in there either and jumped out again. i quickly got him back in and put the cover on the bucket. and dripped water from the 300 for about 20 minutes.

instead of dealing with him jumping out again i left the top on and set the whole bucket in the tank and opened the top and let him out.

he seems to be fine but i am i nervous wreck.....

wow, thats one reason why ill stay away from arowanas lol, my think bout getting a gar soon but that will be when i know that i will upgrade ( right now its a no )

got any pics?

these are some older crappy pictures. ill snap a few more tonight. this was 4 months ago. before he got drop eye on his right. im upset about that too.

i hope he is ok..

you put a 16" fish in a 12" container and expected it to go well?

he seems fine with the plants and doesnt bother them. the 300 isnt a planted tank with a sand bottom and a few decorations. this it the 300.

the container i put him in is 20"x16". he had enough room to swim around.

I've actually never drip acclimated fish from tank to tank, I just matched the params as close as possible and dumped them in (it was an arowana too) lol.

there is nothing easy about having monster fish, ESPECIALLY moving them.

be lucky it wasent a pacu. instead of having a fish 20ft away, there would be water 20ft every which way.

if you ever have to move him again, try using a soft mesh laundry basket you get from walmart for 2.99. they cant jump out, and its large enough to acomodate most fish
