I'm going to need to move my aquarium soon, this is my plan. Get about 5 five gallon buckets, empty the water and then fish into those, move the tank, and fill it back up with the old water. This would probably take an hour max. It should be alright, right?
Sounds good as long as the fish aren't too big. How far (time wise) are you moving? You'll need to take out most of the gravel and empty out all the water too too keep the weight down.
then yes do that... as long as the fish fit in the buckets you should be fine (coolers and rubbermaid tubs work for bigger fish)
taking out the gravel/decorations is also a good idea to help keep down weight... and if you can.. move the tank and stand as one just dont knock it over... its a lot easyer than moving the stand around the tank

theres been many threads like this. Probably will take a little longer than an hour though. Dont use 100% of the old water Id put in some new water as well. Ive moved fish with the whole rubbermaid and bucket routine mannnnyyyy times works well.
