I currently have a bamboo shrimp in my 10gallon. I want to know if it would ok to put it in my 55 because there's more current for it to get food. Right now there's a p. senegalus about the same size as the shrimp 3-4" (lol), an African brown knife maybe 4-5", and a tiny rainbow shark 2", I'm planning on getting a leopard ctenopoma, 2 rope fish and a yellowtail zig zag eel do you think the shrimp would remain unharmed?

Well, my P. senegalus goes to town tearing apart crayfish it's size or larger... and they have claws to defend themselves. So, for that one alone I'd think not. Knifes are hunters, are they not? That may cause an issue, too. And rope fish are in the same family as polypterus and often have similar diets, so they might be an issue, too.

Personally, I'd say you're shrimp would eventually be a meal for somebody. But let the others chime in, most of my experience is just with crays lol

Thank you for your info :)

Your stocks are inappropriate. The rainbow shark and shrimp will easily fall victims to ropefish and bichirs. The knifefish could easily gobble a shrimp.

Also, don't get anymore fish. Your tank is ALREADY overstocked. If you want to get more fish, think in terms of at least a 100 gallon.

Now that I've actually thought about moving the shrimp I realize how badly that would end.

I had a bamboo shrimp in with a senegal for almost a year without problems but the senegal was smaller. Right when it got to the same size as the shrimp I moved the shrimp to a different tank. Keep your guy in the ten gallon for now.

Yeah I'm going to say leave him too. It would suck if it ended up dinner for another fish :(

To create a better flow for my bamboo shrimp in a 10 gal. I dropped the water level down a bit, maybe 1.5-2 inches from the top. This made a waterfall effect which helped out the flow quite a bit. Just my 2 cents.......
