We had another stingray graduate from the Touch Pool. Should be fun to watch her grow even bigger now. Pics and video from yesterday.
The new home is the 220,000 gallon Reef showcasing animals from the reefs of the area. Everything is real (including rock and coral). Just to show what goes into a move like this - it started almost two weeks ago. We slowly increased temp and salinity in the Touch Pool to get it closer to the Reef parameters. (TP is a closed system with extensive life support, the Reef is an open system - water coming in from the bay, then flowing right back out.) We had 5 of us to pull the move off first thing Saturday morning before the park had guests pouring in.

First video is one of my team lowering her down (I'll let her post if she wants). Second is me checking on her a little while after she had time to settle in. She ate a small herring from my hand - which was a very good sign.

I know things are not allways as good as they seem BUT, you sure look to have a really great job!! Really neat stuff. How many pounds would you say she is?

Just an update. She's doing amazing. Very interactive during our dives.

Her she is with our small green moray. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Where do you get the rubber nets? My sharks/rays are too big for my simple bucket method...

BTW, what's it take to go for a dive in there? hehe

Going giant pacific octopus hunting for one of the local aquariums next weekend! Will definitely take video.
