New member and loving all the info I find here.
And here to ask for any help or advice,
I purchased a 75gal w/stand and it came with a spotted/florida Gar who is now 16".
I have a 150 I will be moving him into, Not a multi tank guy so the fluval 404 will be moving to the other tank with him.
I have a brand new fluval 305 coming, so that would give me 170gal of filter for a 150gal tank and have a fluval submersible filter as well that provides good water flow he likes to swim in if nothing else.
I change 10-15gal/week and clean my filters once a month as it is now and have clear water.
I know I will have to up the gal/week ratio on the new tank and plan on off set canister filter changes.
Its my first big tank change and found 2 different theories on how it should work from online research.
1st is the put water from your tank into the new 1 at least 50% so your fish has its environment already there, and run the new pump in existing tank for a week or so to "season" it.
2nd was just run all new water in the new tank and no water from the existing tank and dont bother "seasoning" the new filter it will be fine as is.
I would hate to lose him because I moved him to a bigger tank and made even 1 mistake.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions
