What is the best way to move a 30 gallon tank and inhabitants?

I moved a tank and Jack Dempsey back in college several years ago, but the shock almost killed him. Definitely shortened his life.

Now I need to move a 30 gallon, stand, 3 platys and a female convict with zero loss. Any advice will help.

By the way, what would make a good tankmate for the convict in a 30? I don't want a fish factory, so a male is probably out of the question.

try looking up this post, HELP....moving....., dated 04-03-07;)

I would keep as much water as possible, keep filters wet and warm, put fish in bucket keep warm and airated, and go for it, do all this last thing so your not moving stuff past them all day, when you do introduce them leave there lights off and maybe cover tank to let them settle

you take the water from your tank and put it in a cooler!

then add an air pump! and you could use a heater but it isnt needed for that short of a ride!

and drain the tank! and move that and fill it back up with the water from the cooler! and add fish!
