Ok, I am moving this week. I am breaking down my tank a day or two before the move and storing all my fish and corals in seperate containers.
My question is, how long can I safely keep the corals in containers/buckets assuming I packed them in a fashion very similar to that which they were shipped to me in? The longest they would sit will likely be maybe 3 days at the max for the corals, and the fish will be in a much smaller tank (er, rubbermaid bucket with a filter dangling off it) for about 4 days or so. I expect there to be some die-off on the liverock as I will not be able to keep it completely submerged for the move. How hardy are mushrooms when it comes to packing? Any helpful tips?

3 days will be fine, in my opinion, as long as they are kept at a good temp..If you cant keep the live rock submerged, then yes, you'll get a bit of die-off, so you'll have to monitor the tank perams when you set it up again.....Shrooms are pretty hardy indeed...as long as they are submerged and good temp, dont see any issues....

id agree. Use wet newspaper on any of the rock that will not fit submersed in water. This will help preserve some life but i still dont see very good odds. as long as theres a filter on the bucket with fish, then IMO its no different then a tank just missing decore and glass lol. Corals are fine just make sure there not bagged up for 3 days, sitting in larger standing water will give you much better odds in the long run.

good luck and set everything up asap and let the tank run a night while fish and coral remain in buckets to avoid any major ammonia shocks. and when you do add them be sure to do some water changes for the first few days to keep the levels low, because there will be some expected ammonia but you might also have enough bacteria to keep it from harming livestock after a week or so.
