Hey I was wondering what your opinions are on moving an established tank. I will be moving to another apt around July and I can tare down my freshwater tanks and re-set up fine... but I am used to doing this by now and I know the drill. However I am not sure about moving my salt tank, its making me a bit nervous. I have more rock work.... 2 pieces of rock have 2 coral frags that have attached... then I got the live sand (which makes the tank to heavy to lift) plus a few fish, turbo snail, nassarius snails and some hermit crabs. This tank is the one that has a wet/dry set up which I already know is a pain.......... to move. I figured I should probably count on bringing all of my water but I just want to make sure I do it right and dont mess it up.....

I have moved tanks several times...when I do it I usually try to get some clean surface water out to hold and transport the corals and animals in...then I get some more clean water in coolers for the rock. After this I will get the rock clean (might as well your tearing everything down) and siphon the crap out of the sand, and drain the tank. I would take the sand out and put it in a rubbermaid. As long as your water quality in your old tank is good making new seawater should just be like a great water change.

Sorry no one got to this post sooner, I just got back on the site after a hectic second semester of college.
