Ok guy's,

I have never really had to move larger fish before, every time i have moved my tanks in the past I have just used a net to catch everything as they have all been small community fish tanks.

I have been growing out a Barramundi for a mate in my tank and will need to get it out shortly (A month or two as I love this fish!!!) I also have some large Chiclids and pleco so will need to know how do move them for the future to.

Now, how will I go about this for the Barra, Oscars etc and the Gibby? anything different for them??

Thanks,
Brett

I moved my two barramundi which are both at about 10 - 11 inches last weekend. I lowered the water to a point where they were just submerged and used a hand towel to pick them up and place them in a large bucket. How big is yours?

just grab the pleco with bare hands. always works for me. :D

What I do for my bigger cichlids, depending on how far your moving them, is I buy these buckets (2g) from walmart they are like a 1.29 and put some water in put one fish or 2 per bucket. Ive moved fish an hour to an hour and 20 min in those buckets. a hint if you move them that way, is to take a shirt or somethin and cover the bucket cuz mine loved to jump theyd just hit the top of that and be ok. If your talkin biggggg monsters, the only thing I can think of is buying a plastic storage bin and cleanin them out good putting them in their, its kinda hard to move with alllooot of water though. Ive moved a 8 inch frontosa in those buckets. Depends on how big your monsters gonna be and how far. Also for the pleco.. oh lordy... you can catch them without gettin barbed and without hurtin them of course. One of my lfs the guy catches them all slick like its nuts. he said hes gotten barbed alot to learn how tho! I have a foot or so common pleco, I recommend a piece of mircro fiber. Its not cotton type so he wont get stuck its really smooth. Just make sure you havent washed it in soapy stuff or somethin but yea thats what I do! Hope that helps!!!

Thats sort of how this came up, saw my LFS guy just fish a big pleco out with his hands!!

Isnt it amazing! This is a little asian dude I go "umm I want the big one" he said ok and reached in the tank all slow and then really fast, grabbed him like right before his barbs didnt even hurt the pleco. I love seeing that. Its not only cool, but doesnt seem like it hurts the pleco. I hate when you see people trying to grab their tails :( looks like it hurts. Then I watched him move more plecos into a tank he was pro! I could watch that all day. He wasnt scared of gettin barbed or anything!
