Well the Longnose gars that I had a few months back (3x about 5-6 inches) all died. the grow out tank I had them in crashed and took them with it. I broke down the tank and have had a 13-14 inches (estimate size) Florida/Spotted gar in there to quarantine and also get on market shrimp or pellets. I also have another F/S about 7-8 inches in another tank that is eating market shrimp and pellets. I'm thinking of moving the smaller one into a 180gal first then the larger one. Currently the 180gal has P-bass, Jar Aro, Orange Pike, suncat, bullhead cat, 2x Ornate bichers, and 4x Lap birchers. I plan on moving the P-bass, Jar Aro, Orange Pike, and cats to another tank before I move the 2 gars. My two questions:

1. Will the size difference of the two gars be ok? The smaller one isn't as thick as the larger one, but dont think the larger one coudl swallow the smaller one.

2. Gars and Bichers should be ok right? The bichers are all +8 inches. Am I risking it if I add 2 slightly smaller bichers, 2 Endlis about +6 inches, they would be moved before the Gars.

So answers to my questions, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Gar mix should be ok along with the bichirs....

Just make sure everybody gets something to eat!

1-gars can be cannibals, and tend to attempt to eat things far too large to swallow. so if the bigger one cant swallow the smaller, it should be fine, just keep a close eye for any attempts. fin shredding is normal, and no cause for alarm

2-as long as they are around the same size. general same rule as the above, just keep an eye out for attempts at eating tankmates and you should be fine:)

some times florida/spotted can also be cannibalistic like i have 4 13"+ gars
i tried adding a 6" gar and it worked well without any problem
then i tried adding another 6" gar after 2 weeks and within an hour i came aback and see that one of my big gars has the little gars tail in his mouth and is swimming around the tank with the little guy hanging
the little guy survived and is in my smaller tanks growing to go again into the big one

xander13, headbanger_jib - thank you guys both, I'll moved this this afternoon after feeding both of them last night and so far ok. Gonna try to feed them again tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll keep an eye on them and have other tanks available if problems arise. Thanks again.
