I'm moving to a bigger set up soon. Only thing is I cant find a net big enough to bag up my Channel cat 18" my Arowana 19" my Clown knife 18" My tsn 14" How do I transfer my monstas to my new set up? The net is the biggest one I found and they are just to long. I don't wanna risk dropping them on the floor. Plus tsn have spines in the fins that smart !! I dropped one before and just thought I could scoop it up. Not smart.

So whats another method to capture these guys safely for both me and them. Any schooling would be greatly appreciated folks.

I think there's a sticky on this somewhere... maybe in the catfish part? Should show up with a search.

Edit: It's actually in the "Frequently Asked Questions" part.

Just a thought really dont know...but you could lower the water and use a bath towl to wrap them in just to get them into what your going to transfer them into....would keep them from getting scrached at least and you safe too..

No matter what way you do it, everyone involved will get completely soaked, your fish will probably end up with a couple of bumps and bruises, and the language will not be G-rated! I hope i never have to move any of my big fish again since I've gotten them into the pond. It is really an ordeal.

Man I bet bro. I am dreading the day too. These guys do not dig being messed with. They splash water every where just chilling.

a fisherman's net. They have them very very large.

i was going to use a piece of canvas as a sling between poles (i was going to use pvc pipe as the poles) to capture and move my RTC. seemed like the only way i was going to get her out of the tank she was in without her breaking herself or the tank.

the way i planned it i was going to lower the water level to just enough that she was covered, drop the canvas with the poles flat on the bottom of the tank, and move her onto the canvas by hand, then pull the poles up over her to secure her inside, then get my son to lift one end while i held her steady and held the other end of the poles.

i figured it's a pretty simple design, and no one would be hurt. And it's adjustable for any size or shape monster fish.

agree and in many different styles. easy to net the fish tighten the net around the body and pull the fish out..now this may be a 2 person job to prevent thrashing about
