I"m thinking of getting this 12" armatus from a fellow member. It's currently getting beat up by a dorado and the nose looks messed up? How will the damages and health be affected if I move it to my tank? Are there any risks or chances of it not making it because of the move? I plan on adding salt and raising the temp. It will be going in a tank with just bichirs for now. Here is a current pic. image.jpeg

Every armatus that I have had reacted very violently to being moved. They would thrash about in the net and get their fangs caught in the mesh but other than that there would be no real damage.
If you can get the armatus relocated without putting it through too much stress and into a tank where it will be left alone as it heals then it should be fine.

I am one to believe a fish is only worth what you value it at, in other words pay what you're willing to, you seem like you want it, they can be sensitive but not as much as other payara. What he has I think he'd heal from it fairly quickly. But I've no personal experience with these fish. So take that with a grain of salt. I'd go for it if I'd have the means to care for it later in its lifetime.

Difficult fish to keep, had two that died on ne last year due to diseased feeders. But before that i did move them and they beat them selves up some. Clean water and a bit of salt sas all it took to heal injuries.
